Evening Primrose grows on the dry upland slopes on the approach to Haleakala (a word that means "House of the Sun" in Hawaiian) Crater on the Island of Mauii. Hawaii. A legend of Haleakala is that the demigod Mauii lassoed the Sun so Mauii's mother would have more light to finish her tapa cloth, Evening Primrose is both a solar and lunar flower. It's sun yellow blossoms bloom in the moonlight, capturing the soothing, nurturing energy of the moon.
